Munganyende

Munganyende is a Kigali-born author and performance artist whose work was recently presented at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. For the past ten years, Munganyende has explored contemporary African womanhood through literature, sound, and visual culture. Munganyende’s work centers the perspectives of errant girlflesh, articulated through opera, fiction, and stage prose. Their debut prose work, Liberté, Égalité, Beyoncé, was published in Amsterdam in 2021. Their work was subsequently featured in The Black Joy Project anthology in 2023 (HarperCollins). Munganyende is an alum of the Zanele Muholi Art Institution in Cape Town and the Black Atlantic residency at LOATAD in Accra, and practices between Dakar and Amsterdam.
