Djuwa Mroivili
Djuwa Mroivili (Amsterdam, 1998) is a Comorian-Dutch multidisciplinary artist, afro-hair inspirer, fangirl, curator and researcher based in Amsterdam. Although she was trained as a classical pianist, and concerts are still part of her working practice, she also experiments with other formats of performance in which music plays a role. On stage, Mroivili is a vulnerable and socially critical storyteller, using music, words, fashion, hair, archival research and imagination to tell her stories. About Djuwa Mroivili, filmmaker Naomi White made the documentary ‘Als ik zelf de zon ben’ (If I am the sun myself), which was released in 2023 and was nominated for a Gouden Kalf.
