Veelgestelde vragen regeling Werkruimte Professionele Kunst
- Important: make sure to create an account on our new platform
The AFK is working with a new platform. That’s why you need to create a new account, even if you previously submitted an application for the project scheme. What do you need to do?
You need to create an account at mijn.afk.nl
You need to set up your Applicant Page.
Check the manual for more information.
- When can I use the grant?
Between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026. The (draft) lease agreement you submit must cover activities during that period.
- Can I also apply as an organization or on behalf of an organization?
No. You can only apply as an individual or a self-employed professional. However, you may apply on behalf of a collective of independent artists.
- What is meant by workspace?
A space suitable and intended for activities related to the creation of professional art, such as a studio, rehearsal space, editing room, or recording studio — with the exception of office space.
- How can I prove that I am a resident of Amsterdam?
A proof of residence in Amsterdam can, for example, be a bank statement showing a recent withdrawal. The important thing is that the document includes your name, address, and a recent date, so we can confirm that you actually live in Amsterdam. It is not necessary to submit an extract from the Personal Records Database (Basisregistratie Personen).
- Can I apply for a workspace outside Amsterdam?
No. You can only apply for workspace within the municipality of Amsterdam.
- What is a track record?
- What information must be included in the lease agreement(s)?
Address of the space(s);
Name of the landlord;
Rental period(s) (which space, dates/periods/time slots);
Price agreements.
The lease agreement may also be an arrangement made via email.
- Can I submit one application for the use of multiple spaces?
Yes, you can. The scheme reimburses rental costs for multiple spaces, up to a maximum of €3,500 per year.
What does it mean that the order of processing is determined by lottery?
This scheme has a limited budget. If more applications are submitted than we can fund, we will determine the order of processing through a lottery. We will continue this process until the subsidy limit is reached.This way, everyone has an equal chance of receiving a contribution, regardless of the moment you submit your application (as long as it is within the application period).
- What about the amount to request and VAT?
You can request an amount between €2,000 and €3,500, but not more than your actual rental costs.
If you are VAT-liable and can reclaim VAT, you should state the rental amount excluding VAT.
If you cannot reclaim VAT, you should state the rental amount including VAT.
- When will I receive the money?
The subsidy decision will be made by 26 November 2025 at the latest. If your application is approved, you will receive the full amount in your account within a few weeks.
- Can I apply for both the Workspace scheme and a project grant at the AFK (or vice versa)?
Yes, that is possible. However, please note that you cannot request funding for the same rental costs through both schemes. Double financing of the same costs is not allowed.
- How do I account for this subsidy?
The subsidy is granted directly, so you do not need to submit a separate report. However:
You must be able to demonstrate, at the request of the AFK, that you have carried out the activities for which you received the subsidy and that the rental costs were actually incurred.
In addition, it is mandatory for everyone to immediately inform the AFK of any changes in circumstances that could affect the subsidy amount. This includes changes to the rental location, implementation period, rental costs, or if you have not fully spent the granted subsidy amount.
- Can I receive additional subsidy if I have spent more than the granted amount?
No, that is not possible. If your rental costs exceed the granted subsidy amount, the AFK cannot cover the difference.
