3Package Deal 2025: these 15 (inter)national artists will develop their talent in Amsterdam

Fifteen artists from the Netherlands and abroad have started the 3Package Deal, the talent development programme of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK) and Bureau Broedplaatsen of the Municipality of Amsterdam. This year marks the twelfth edition.
The 3Package Deal offers fifteen artists one-year assistance with affordable living and working space, a €25,000 development budget, coaching and a network of renowned Amsterdam organisations. The artists are selected and mentored by fifteen coalitions formed by top institutions from across Amsterdam.
With the help of the 3Package Deal, the participants can fully focus on the next step in their practice, make new work or conduct research in 2025. The artists come from countries as diverse as Thailand, Syria, Martinique and Iran, among others.
In the 2025 line-up of artists, the personal nature of their work and the emphasis on social and political themes stand out. Agat Sharma, for instance, explores the history and pre-colonial legacy of cotton through theatrical experiments. Filmmaker Malaz Usta focuses on displacement, identity and the concept of ‘belonging’, while Ayoub Kharkhach puts his own life at the centre of his hyper-personal cabaret. Interdisciplinary work is more the rule than the exception. ‘A story can be told in theatre, poetry, photography and even architecture,’ says Oudail el Omari, who was selected by coalition Autodidact.

How are artists selected?
The 3Package Deal talents are nominated annually to the AFK by 15 different coalitions, each consisting of renowned Amsterdam (art) institutions. These institutions select the promising artists on surprising work with eloquence but also on an innovative research and creative process. They then take on the coaching of the artists for a year and open up their network, knowledge and venues to them.
